When your team has successfully completed the prologue, you will receive instructions for the six to seven mile bike ride to the start of the trek orienteering loop.

After your team has successfully completed the twenty to twenty-two mile trek orienteering loop, you will receive instructions for the nine to ten mile bike ride to the start of the bike orienteering loop.

Once your team has successfully completed the twenty-two to twenty-four mile bike orienteering loop, you will receive instructions for the thirty-five to forty mile bike ride to the start of the paddle segment.

When your team has successfully completed the fourteen to fifteen mile paddle segment, your team will receive instructions for the thirty-five to forty mile bike ride necessary to finish the diet at the City of Gainesville, Florida Kiwanis Challenge Playland.

Your team will have to solve riddles when traveling between segments and within segments. The location of each answer will be given in UTM coordinates, have an associated hint and usually involves locating a prominent landmark, topographical feature or unique object. Your team will have to plot UTM coordinates in the field.

Your team must complete each segment correctly and in its entirety before obtaining the instructions for the next segment. No penalties will be assessed for incorrectly solving or missing a riddle. To continue through the entire Alachua Sink Diet I, your team must improvise, adapt and overcome adversity, hardship as well as a variety of obstacles.

Each team will need a support crew(s) whose principal purpose is to transport the team’s paddle gear to the start of the paddle segment and their bike(s) to the end of the paddle segment. The support crew can also carry any other pertinent equipment, gear, maps, tools, devices, food and water through portions of the Alachua Sink Diet I.
