Length: 35 km
Location: Canberra
Teams of 3 compete in a fun adventure race sprint. The course consists of 20 - 30km of mountain bike riding, 8 - 12 km of trail running / trekking and up to 9 obstacles.
Obstacles are great fun and a major component of each race. It isn\'t all about how fast you can run or ride, but also about how you can work together as a team and use your heads to solve problems. Obstacles are a surprise at each race and could be anything from crossing a river using a burma bridge (two ropes) to slithering your way through a muddy tunnel maze. Your team may also find yourselves solving a jigsaw puzzle or even constructing a raft. Check out some of the pictures on this site for more examples of what the obstacles could be.
If you are new to adventure racing and are a complete novice, then this is a great event to start with. It is a lot of fun and you will get to practice important adventure racing skills such as basic navigation, coping with the unexpected and team work.
The first teams are expected to cross the finish line in 2 and a half hours, with the last teams rounded up from the course after 6 hours. This means those who choose to walk the trek/trail run sections should still be able to make the cut off.
