This new event on the calendar will be offering a tough challenge for all adventure racers in September.
The event runs for one day and will take racers around the stunning Ullswater valley, by bike, canoe and on foot.
Two courses are available, ‘Tough’ (48.5km) and ‘Super Tough’ (75km), which are open to competitive event newcomers and also regular competitive racers.
All entries are open to teams of four with separate prizes for mixed and single sex teams.
The courses will include the four classic adventure racing disciplines; run/trekking, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking plus a 60m abseil and will all involve the collection of check points to boost the final scores.
• The run/trek stage will include the Helvellyn range
• The biking courses show you some of the best on and off road biking in the valley, with a twist.
• Ullswater Lake is a stunning and challenging paddling venue with the courses exploring the best the lake has to offer. Teams will paddle as pairs in both canoe and kayak sections. All entrants need BCU 2* or equivalent experience including self recovery skills. Pre-event training courses are available at Distant Horizons, see contact details below.
Some navigation ability will be necessary for all entrants; the longer courses being more technical.
The entry fee is £90 per person and includes:
• Quality event management by Distant Horizons
• Canoes, Kayaks, buoyancy aids and paddles
• All technical equipment and PPE for abseil section
• Safety, Support and Guidance in abundance
