News Release / 30.07.2014

The adventure race Gredos-Iruelas, organized and designed by Antonio de la Rosa and Jesus Bermejo, who also traced the last Adventure Race World Championship held in Spain in 2010, is an international competition of 30 hours for the first teams and 2 days of average.
The race will start on September 26 in the village of Barco de Ávila and the finishing line will be Las Cruceras, a recreation area located in the village of El Tiemblo by the reservoir of El Burguillo.
Gredos is a Regional Park located in the Central Mountains and its peak is El Almanzor, 2.592m. The topography of the area was a perfect home for many tribes, especially for the Vetones Celts. In this occasion it will be the “battle field” for our international runners. Moreover, the most important vulture colony in Europe live in the Conservational Area of Valle de Iruelas, the location of the finishing line for the international edition of this race and the 2nd edition of the popular race.
This is a competition of orienteering, strategy and adventure, and the first three teams will have a 2.000€ prize pool. The basic disciplines during the race will be running, biking, climbing and rowing among others. They will also have to face some “special” events such as a zipline and Paddle Surf or SUP.
The final hours of the International race will happen at the same time as the popular edition so a large attendance is expected in the Conservational Area of Valle de Iruelas on Sunday September 28.
