On September 10/11th in the Bavarian Alps, 60 of Europe\'s best corporate teams will be battling to become the 2004 Cisco Euro Champions and to win one of the eleven qualifying places for the inaugural World Team Challenge in Valencia Spain later this year.

For the 3rd Cisco Euro Challenge the venue is the resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a beautiful spa town nestling at the foot of Germany’s highest Alpine mountains. Teams will be crossing some rugged terrain and exploring the crystal clear lakes and their surrounding forests. It’s a spectacular setting for special challenge.

Teams of all abilities will be confronted by a series of mental and physical challenges to test mind, body and team spirit. Over two action packed days and nights they will be running, cycling, canoeing, and constructing engineering tasks whilst cracking codes and puzzles.

It will be fast paced, fun and require quick decision making and good team work. Challenger World call it ‘intelligent sport’ and promise that a good team will beat four brilliant individuals every time.

There will be some very strong teams taking part, from 12 different nationalities, including last year’s winners Scania of Sweden, who are renowned for their fitness and navigation. They will expect a strong challenge from many teams, in particular Airbus UK (the 2003 Microsoft Challengers Trophy Champions), and HP Espanola who were second last year.

This year there will be a night stage for the first time, which may shake up the results, and also an added prize on offer, with the chance to qualify for the World Team Challenge. Places will go to the top 10 teams, however, only 2 teams will go from any one country (except the UK which has only 1 place).

So teams will not only have the extra pride and motivation of racing under their country flag, they will be competing with their own countrymen for a chance to go to Spain in December.

It’s likely to be a close contest with positions changing as each of the 5 stages poses new challenges to the teams and we’ll be following their progress as the Cisco Euro Challenge progresses.

Keep checking back for news from the course, pictures of the action and the results stage by stage.
