Southern Brazil in the Spring
Susan McKenzie / 30.09.2005

It\'s early spring in southern Brazil, and the temperatures at night could dip to zero Celcius. Daytime highs may hit thirty, but will more likely hover in the low twenties - cool weather for rafting and kayaking, two sports which figure prominently in this race.
There are a record 52 teams registered to compete, almost twenty of which are international. And this is no rookie field either: the American/Kiwi team Merrell Zanfel, the American/Aussie team SOLE Custom Footbeds, Sweden\'s Cross Sportswear, Spain\'s Buff Nike ACG and Abarth, and home country favourites Claight Salomon Atenah are among the top teams ready to fight for the free entry into next year\'s Adventure Racing World Championships in Sweden.
The race begins on Sunday at 4pm local time, and sleepmonsters will provide live coverage of the race. We\'ll preview the race course Saturday evening after the maps are handed out at a big party in the town square.
