Singaporeans Alvin Lim and Yeo Kim Hong, who competed under the name “Adventure in Motion�, were not far behind at 4 hours and 53 minutes. In third place a further 3 minutes behind was team “AA Schmucknuckles�, comprising Kurt Lynn and Matt McLaughlin, a pair of New Zealanders resident in Hong Kong.
The top 3 in the overall mixed teams went to Whinge n Moan (British Adrian Emmet and German Sabrina Schwarz both of Hong Kong) who grabbed 1st place in 5 hrs 54 min 38 sec with Singapore’s American expats Keith and Annika Ferrell grabbing 2nd in 5 hrs 59 min 30 sec and 3rd place taken by Hong Kong residents Team Terrapin (American Christa Conner and Andrew Nash-Webber) in 6 hrs 02 min 01 sec.
Starting in pitch-black darkness at 6am, the event was flagged off by Mr. Teo Ser Luck, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry for Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Mr. Michael Palmer, Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC. The racers then took off for the Bukit Timah area on bicycle and foot and crossed through the Clementi heartlands to Kent Ridge Park.
After performing various challenges at these two locations, participants zipped through the West Coast Highway on mountain bikes (a first in Singapore) to their next destination, Marina South, for an ocean swim against strong currents.
