The Raid World Championship 2006
Hey look! It\'s the Rest of the Race
Susan McKenzie / 14.09.2006

“At first I was very disappointed to learn we would be camping overnight, but this is so beautiful that I cannot complain. Look at that, Yves Billodeau says, gesturing at the view, the red streaked sky, the carved cliffs of the fjord.
Les Arcs Quechua, Spyder, Sport 2000 LaFuma, and Adidas Natventure have all been stopped at Anse de Roche, the start of the final paddling sea kayaking section, a gorgeous trip across the Saguenay Fjord that will finish at Tadoussac, at the mouth of the St Lawrence River.
They won’t be allowed on the water until six o’clock tomorrow morning (wait, make that six o’clock this morning, it’s after midnight.), which means they can all expect to catch a late breakfast at the Tadoussac Hotel.
Billodeau and his Les arcs Quechua teammates relax beside their van. Their chairs are pointed towards the water, they eat burgers and apple sauce and who knows what else. It is a spectacular spot to camp, and that you can buy beer and burgers makes it even more appealing.
Defending Raid World Champs Les Arcs Quechua started the race strong, leading the pack for the better part of the first two day, and always in the top three. But everything changed for the team on Tuesday, during one of the day’s adventure running sections.
