Salomon X-adventure World Series
The Teams

A few favourites stand out from the team listings. On the international side the biggest battle will be between ‘Salomon Extrem’ of Spain and ‘X-Act’ of Finland, who lead the series after the first 4 races. With 2 wins ‘Salomon Extrem’ are just ahead, but X-Act have been more consistent to date. Third and 4th place teams ‘Ertrips’ and ‘Cap Aventure’, both from France, are also competing, and ‘Litepac’ from Sweden are also well placed.
British teams have not competed in enough races to be highly placed in the series, but one to watch out for is ‘Team Wales’. This made-for-TV team are being followed at races around the world by the S4C channel and they were 5th overall in the recent US X-Adventure, where the standard was exceptionally high with many US teams using it for last minute Eco-Challenge training. On home ground they will be a formidable force.
Other contenders are ‘G.B Quads’, led by former Western Isles Challenge winner Marc Laithwaite, who was a winner in the most recent Hi-Tec Adventure Race, and ‘Pilgrims’, who finished 12th in the Raid Gauloises in Ecuador a couple of years ago. ‘Adidas Eyewear’ are all professional triathletes, the military team ‘Twisting Compass’ have Eco-Challenge experience and both ‘Organic.com’ and ‘DST Starlight Stars’ have been top performers in the shorter, one-day Salomon X-Adventure races run in the UK this year.
It going to be a great competition.
