7 Cerros Medellin Urban Adventure Race
Captain Petri Forsman injured

Racers from around the world are mobilizing, heading to MedellÃn, Colombia, for the second edition of 7 Cerros MedellÃn, which starts on Friday.
Many of the teams who competed here last year are back for a second round. Some bad news: last year’s champions, Team Finland, won’t be back to defend their title. Captain Petri Forsman is nursing an Achilles tendon injury suffered racing in China last month. He expects to be out of competition for the remainder of the year.
This leaves the top spot on the podium open, both for teams returning from last year and for newcomers. Last year’s second-place team, Colombian locals Safety Trek Nativos will be back again, this year racing as Safety Patagonia.
USA’s Team Sole took third last year, working hard on the second and third days to make up for some navigational errors committed on Day One. This year Paul Romero and Karen Lundgren will be racing with Australia’s Darren Clarke and NZ’s Marcel Hagener. Marcel is already here in MedellÃn, resting up after the gruelling journey from down under, but Paul and Karen are leaving their arrival to the last minute, having promotional commitments for their Baja Travesia race in Mexico this week – hopefully their late arrival here will not bring any problems with it.
