Lundhags Adventure aces the morning´s skating section
Jacqueline Windh / 23.09.2007

This morning started with a 31 km inline skating stage - this is the section that the Swedes had most looked forward to, their forte. It started at 6am at the Acevedo Metro Station, and looped south through town and then back to ascend the hill Cerro Nutibara.
The overall leaders after two days of competition are Spain´s Teva-La Pinilla, with Sweden needing to make up 30 minutes today in order to take first placee. Although some Colombian teams have performed very well on individual stages, none has been consistent enough to be in the top ranking. So the three foreign teams, Lundhags, Teva-La Pinilla and USA´s Sole, are the ones fighting it out for the podium places.
As expected, Lundhags skated really well. Several Colombian teams beat them to the summit of Nutibara (I´ll put those team names here once I get them), and Sweden arrived just minutes later, 20 minutes ahead of Sole and 22 minutes ahead of Spain.
Sweden´s Tobias is an orienteering champion, and they completed the orienteering challenge here on Nutibara rapidly - I left the PC there just minutes later, so I don´t know whether they managed to increase their lead over Spain on this section.
From here they will be cycling all over the city and undertaking various challenges along the way. The route will be rapid, with winning teams arriving well before noon - but with possible penalties for any teams not properly completing challenges in this morning´s orienteering or at the climbing wall. Penalties are 30 minutes, so it is possible that final rankings could change significantly.
