Adventure Racing Poland Championships
First stages completed and route description.
26.09.2007

The swimming stage came to an end very quickly, just as we expected. First competitors appeared on CP1 after 25 minutes. Quick clothes change and the next, kayak stage. More than 42km on the Solińskie Lake. We think it's going to take them around 5 hours. That part of the race started and ends in Polańczyk.
Afterwards, 71 km long mountain bikes stage which starts with water passage across with bikes on... waterbikes.
Just after landing on the Werlas Peninsula another special task will be waiting for the teams - rope ladder ascending and descending. The stage ends in Transition Area B in the forester's lodge in Nasiczne.
The next phase, trekking (68 km) begins with special section leading trough the highest parts of Bieszczady. Bieszczady mountains are absolutely scenic and at this stage the competitors will have a chance to explore and get close with their beauty and wildness. The obligatory part of the section will take them to CP18 (the highest peak, Tarnica, 1346 m). There might be some judges or additional checkpoints waiting for them so they have to make sure they won't choose another way as skipping even a part of it will be penalised. Also, they have to be really careful because a part of the route goes through the country border.
The trekking stage ends at CP22 in the TA C in Brzegi Górne.
Next we have got 22 km long in-line skating planned. Discipline which is becoming more and more popular in the adventure racing competitions. The teams cover the 7,5 km section between Brzegi Górne and the Caryńskie Forester's Lodge three times - two times down the road, up the road once. The road has a new and very nice asphalt surface, there's almost no traffic on it but it's rather twisting so the competitors have to be careful as especially on turns, because of the falling leaves it might be slippery, especially after rains which unfortunately, we do expect tonight.
After roller - skating there will be time for mountains bikes again. This time 130 km long with two special tasks. At the beginning angle rope ascending, later rope descending together with bikes, naturally. The stage ends on the Werlas Peninsula beach.
And this is where the last part of the race begins. The competitors must built their own rafts out of tubes, wooden boards and ropes which will take them to the the Hare Island first and the finish line next.
In case of bad weather conditions the stage might be shortened or even canceled. The weather has a dozen or so hours to make its mind so there's no need to decide now.
