Spring Challenge
More than 80 women's teams enter race
press release / 30.09.2007

The Macpac Spring Challenge is one of eight new adventure sport events created by Kiwi multisporter and former Adventure Racing World Champion Nathan Fa'avae.
Originally planned for only 10 to 15 teams, the event was swamped by women wanting to compete and even had a waiting list. Eighty-three women's teams competed in the six-hour race, which involved rafting, biking and trekking at a level designed to be an "enjoyable" challenge.
Hardier competitors toughed it out in a parallel 12-hour race designed for women who had already competed in the Coast to Coast or a marathon or other adventure race.
The series is aimed at all New Zealanders – and not just multisport zealots – who value adventure and the outdoors.
It continues this weekend in the Marlborough Sounds with a 12-hour rogaining (orienteering) event that involves hiking, sea kayaking and mountainbiking.
