Too bad about the weather forecast... well, I guess that depends upon what you consider to be fun! It’s been raining here on Vancouver Island for most of the week. And even though the forecast calls for mixed sunshine and rainshowers tomorrow, the day before the race, that won’t allow the course to dry out. And then Saturday is forecast for more rain.
So, although Bryan has set a Hawai’ian theme for this race (and will be giving away a trip to Hawai’i to prove it!), I am expecting the real theme of the event to be mud, mud and mud.
Well, after reaching my personal peak of fitness this summer (racing the Shawnigan MOMAR in July, and then three weeks later my first Olympic-distance triathlon), I find myself amazed at how quickly I have lost my conditioning. This is mainly due to realizing how much I slacked off on my income-earning projects due to all the summer training, so trying to play catch-up with my work this past month.
But maybe all that mud will give me an advantage, seeing as I come from the wet side of the Island, and am used to the stuff...
Stay tuned to find out how it all goes - I’ll be uploading my report of the event on Monday!
