The former World Champions, Thule, have crossed the finish line in second place on the beach of the Cote d’Azur. The final section was a kayak section to the finish line and the tired team made their way slowly down to the pebble beach, in front of a beach house designed by Le Courbusier. the Monaco yacht show is in full swing and the tiny kayaks made their way among the luxury yachts, around a sharp cape towards the finish line.
Crossing the finish line the team was heartily cheered by French supporters as well as the Swedish contingent was had made the trip from their Northern lands to cheer them on. Mimi and Jacky’s parents were both present, relieved that the race was over; they’d had a mini-raid of their own trying to follow this fast team.
Afterwards Jacky said that they had had a difficult race, but had given it all they had. He added that there was a slight sense of bitterness as they had come out for first place but , “That’s the rules of the game”. He was happy to be racing in raid in France again as he and Mimi had only participated in the first edition in 2007 in the French Pyrenees. All spoke of the beauty of the race route and Jacky concluded by saying, “Well, to get our title back we’ll just have to go to Costa Rica next year! Rendez-vous in 2013.
