XPD Into Day 4 at Blinman
News Release (Geocentric Outdoors) / 07.09.2013

Day four of XPD, the expedition length adventure race underway in the Flinders Ranges, and team spirits remain high despite high temperatures and challenging terrain.
All teams have now completed the most technically challenging leg of the race - the 36 km trek across Angorichina station. Teams took up to 24 hours to complete the trek with navigation at night time all but impossible and cripplingly painful feet slowing their progress. "The blisters on our feet are so bad we could only walk at 2 km per hour", said Daniel Hovenden from Team Outer Edge Racing.
After re-fuelling on toasted foccacias and quandong pies in Blinman, teams rode their mountain bikes along the flowing single track of the Mawson trail into Wilpena Pound, rewarded with wildflowers and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Veteran adventure racer, Phil Newman from Team Goldfish summed it up by blogging "today has been yet another amazing adventure along some of the most beautiful and exciting tracks I have seen". As the older competitor in the field, it was the perfect place to celebrate his birthday.
Teams are pushing themselves to get to the fixed ropes course high on "The Great Wall" at Moonarie before the cut-off at sunset Sunday evening.
