Record Setting Turnout for Upcoming MOMAR Cumberland / 12.09.2013

The Atmosphere Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race's (MOMAR) only stop this year will be in Cumberland, BC on Saturday, September 21st. Four hundred and seventy five racers will be at the starting line, a record setting turnout for the MOMAR, making it one of the biggest adventure races in North America.
The majority of racers are from Vancouver Island and Metro Vancouver, with a few dozen racers heading to the Comox Valley from faraway places. "In addition to all the amazing local racers, we're looking forward to hosting racers from Colorado, Washington State, Ottawa, Thunder Bay, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary, Whitehorse, and all over BC," says Race Director, Bryan Tasaka. "There's even a team coming from the UK."
This is the thirteenth year for the MOMAR Cumberland. "After hosting twelve races in the Comox Valley, we're still able to make the courses fresh with route changes and brand new trails," states Tasaka. "We promise another year of stellar courses with lots of navigational choices, sweet single-track riding, and non-stop adventure."
Racers will be eligible to win numerous prizes including a $500 shopping spree at both Atmosphere and Frontrunners, and a trip for two with Wesjet.
MOMAR, its racers and volunteers give back to the community through MOMAR's chosen charities. Over the last six years MOMAR has donated over $24,000 to the Make-a-Wish foundation, and raises funds for the Comox Valley Search and Rescue and the Cumberland Community Forest Society.
The MOMAR is an off road multisport sprint adventure race that requires teams to mountain bike, kayak, trail run, trek, and orienteer through a series of checkpoints over scenic and rugged west coast terrain. The MOMAR series has staged 35 races in British Columbia, Canada over 14 race seasons.
MOMAR is still looking volunteers for registration and race day.
