Ready for the Gold Rush in California
Race Press Release / 18.09.2013

The Gold Rush Mother Lode Adventure Race is a 4 day non-stop expedition race involving paddling, mountain biking, running, trekking, orienteering and rope work through the spectacular Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
The event is a team event with co-ed teams of three or four tackling, non-stop, a route that will take 4 days to cover. The event is a qualifier for the Adventure Racing World Series. The finale for the series will be the world championship race in Costa Rica in November. The winners from this field of experienced teams will win an entry to the Championship event in Costa Rica.
For 150 years people have been striving to get to California. It is the place of legend, fame and fortune.
The 4th Gold Rush Mother Lode in California – actually the first was in 1849 when they were searching for a different kind of gold so it is really the 5th. This is though, the second as a Worlds AR qualifier this time for 2013.
The Gold Rush organization is putting on the Mother Lode to provide an experience in Central California that will rival any race you’ve ever done. We have been out on some of the most beautiful terrain in the world to finish the course design, even though hampered by the huge ‘Rim’ forest fire. It will be epic and hard; rewarding but tough; beautiful but challenging.
The pre-race town is Long Barn in the center of the California Sierra mountains. Long Barn is located on scenic Hwy 120 half way between the historic town of Sonora and the ski resort of Dodge Ridge and Pinecrest.
Pre-race activities will happen on Wednesday September 18th at Long Barn Lodeg and of course the race will start sometime in the early morning of September 19h. The start area and the course will involve some altitude.
The Gold Rush Mother Lode will be taking over the Long Barn Lodge which has plenty of room and outdoor areas for gear sorting, testing and last minute tune ups. This will be a convenient and fun place for check in, skills testing and general preparations.
The event will travel along the world class California Sierras mountains. Disciplines will be paddling, mountain bike, hike, orienteer and rope work.
Eighteen teams will be taking part, including experienced US teams Yogaslackers/Gear Junckie and Bones, and SWECO Adventure of Sweden.
