Raid International Gaspésie 2014
A Great Start Of The Raid International Gaspésie At The Pointe Tracadièche!
Press Release / 12.09.2014

The start of the Raid International Gaspésie began this morning on the Pointe Tracadièche. Ninty-one youth from the schools from all over southern Gaspésie joined the 30 elite participants to the Raid International Gaspésie for a small part of the Prologue. Despite the rain, all have crossed the finish line with a big smile on their faces, and the intention to come back to the next edition.
The elites racers were on the Prologue today, a few hours of coasteering, mountain biking, a zipline high in the air and some canoeing. All enjoyed their race and were really impressed by the beauty of the territory that they qualify as quite ‘technical’.
The local team the GalopeuXtreme, composed by Michel Bujold and Gaston Berthelot had a very good race, the latter taking advantage of his good knowledge of his ‘playground’. They arrived in 2nd position of the men's pairs, just behind the Italian team Pedini-Iret, with a time of 2:50:02. The winners of the prologue, first overall, were the French team Trails Endurance Mag who finished the race in 2:11 : 50.
They were followed by two teams from Quebec, team Dynafit p/b XactNutrition and Le Coureur Canada who have completed the race with respective times of 2:21:04 and 2:31:19.
While the raiders were running on the beach, were climbing Mount St-Joseph with their bikes and were doing ‘bushwalking’ in the mud, the artists of the ‘Artistic Raid’ were starting their artworks. The 4 teams were posted on the beach at the point by the lighthouse, on the beach in the area of the Parc Germain-Deslauriers and on the water in the Barachois.
The adventure continues tomorrow with a start for Day 1 at Middle Camp at 9h30.
