The start of the Day 2 of the Raid International Gaspésie was given this morning at 7:00 at the Micmac camp, for a canoe section towards the mouth of the Cascapedia River. The teams had to go up the coast until the « Cadre de la mer » in Maria, before jumping on their bikes towards the Mont-Saint-Joseph, then a trekking section, biking, rope section in the waterfalls of Grand Saut, canoe in the barachois (or rather portage as there was little water), then bike again until the arrival at the Arpents Verts.

This day was full of emotions as no less than 5 teams had to withdraw from the race for medical reasons. The first one was team #8 – X:act Nutrition p/r by Osprey because of an asthma attack at the arrival of the canoe section at the « Cadre de la Mer » by one of its member. Then, the Costaricans had to quit after a rupture of the meniscus of Sergio Sanchez in the trekking section about 1 km before arriving to the transition on the top of Mount Saint-Joseph.

Shortly afterwards, it was the turn of team Nunavik, the Young Bucks of Inukjuak, because of a twisted ankle suffered by Simon Ningeok, also in the bush walking section. The womens team 4F d'Atmosphère had to finish the day with 3 members after one of them was injured and finally, the other women quatuor, team Merrell le Coureur, will have to continuedo with a teammate less as one member injured herself after a bad fall on her bike.

But all this bad luck also created other nice stories that once again showed the good team spirit reigning during the raid. For example, tomorrow morning, Allie Aculiaq from the Young Bucks of Inukjuak will be on the starting line as part of the team Merrell/Le Coureur, and Stephen Meyer from team x:act Nutrition will join Edoardo Baldioceda from the Costa Rica team for a new duet ; this just for the fun of finishing the race in an unranked category. The 4F d'Atmosphère, for their part, will continue the race with 3 teammates.

Today, in the overall classification, after 3 days of racing, for the 300K race, team Dynafit p/b XactNutrition is in first place with a time of 15:05:25 and is followed closely by the French team Trails Endurance Mag with a time of 15:08:44. The team Mundial follows with Lyne Bessette and her three teammates with a time of 15:01:08. For the 150 km, the Italian team Pedini-Iret, with a time of 12:49:13 is battling for first position with the team GalopeuXtreme with Gaston Berthelot and Michel Bujold who did with a time of 12:57:11. The team of Charlebois-April is in third position with a time of 13:17:21 after 3 days race.

A notable fact today is the great participation of the local population : hundreds of people were present at the different transitions to cheer on the adveture racers : what a great atmosphere!
