Raid in France
All Action on Day One

What a fast paced and exciting day 1!
It was a dark & chilly start this morning for the 3km kayak on Le Lac Du Bouchet and an even chillier mountain bike down the steep hills to section C. The navigation on this 13.9km ride caught a few teams out although they were warned it would be tricky and to read the route book carefully.
Raid74 - maxirace.org 2 were the first to arrive at section C transition at 7.15am followed closely by team Arverne Outdoor. They were both quick to pack their bikes up, weigh their boxes, put their rafting wetsuits on and were off in the kayaks in roughly 20 minutes! This is a good race for those quick in transition as there are quite a few of them.
Raid nature 46 and Lozere Sport Nature Oxsitis and 400 Team Raidlight followed closely behind.
Lakes Multisport UK arrived shortly before South African team Cross Contour at 7.55am.
Teams had to kayak, trek then raft to reach CP5 and section D. 400 Team Raidlight were the first to complete the rafting at 1.15pm and begin the 95 kilometre bike leg followed closely by Lozere Sport Nature Oxsitis. Arverne Outdoor came in with what looked like a leaky raft with some holes in the bottom but this doesn't appear to have slowed them too much.
Cross Contour gained an hour on Lakes Multisport UK arriving at CP5 at 3.20pm! They had a rough kayak leg with a paddle broken in half and a hole in their boat.
There was no water at this transition and most teams had run out of fluids, having to fill bottles and bladders using the river.
Teams are expected to arrive at CP11/section E in Sainte-Eulalie Ardeche early tomorrow morning where there is a compulsory 3 hour sleep.
