Stage B, raft descent on the Aude river.

Press Release / 06.09.2016See All Event Posts Follow Event

In the morning of the second day and after few hours of mandatory rest due to the ban on rafting at night on the Aude river, the fifteen leading teams continue their race. Every five minutes and according to the ranking of the day before, the racers went down the Aude river from the beginning of the Saint-Georges’ gorges to Cavirac. After mastering the several rapids with odd names (Flipper, King-Kong, Triples chutes, etc.) the French 400 Team Naturex kept their lead on Seagate and Raidsavanture.fr.

At the same time, the teams at the bottom of the ranking achieved the first long trek in the Sault lands. Except for the teams DSN74 Hoka and Raidnature46 who withdrawn from the race on the last section of the trek, both because of the injury of one of their team-mate and an overall tiredness.

During the afternoon, the first kilometers of the mountain bike stage made the difference. The New Zealand team Seagate, who left Cavirac second, took the lead around the Puilaurens castle and ahead of the Feuilla col, before continuing their progression to the Llosa col. A few kilometers behind, the French 400 Team Naturex are maintaining their lead over a peloton conducted by Raidsaventure.fr and Issy Aventure Absolu Raid 1. This group composed of 13 teams widened the gap with following teams. During the evening, the leading teams should carry on with a 37 kilometer-long high mountain trek stage in the Carança gorges.

Comment of the day : “The rafting descent on the Aude river is very refreshing after yesterday’s exhausting trek. At the end of this technical stage, we really enjoyed the amazing rapids”. Équipe Intersport Lyon
